Shen Shao said, “Why not. If I can hold a conversation with Miss Fang, then there’s no need for anyone else. We need to establish a well-rounded family environment for Xiao Li as soon as possible.”
Shen Shao’s mother was surprised that her son didn’t reject it and was very happy.
Ai Luo was feeding Xiao Li. When he heard what was being said, his hand shook and the spoon fell to the ground. Hearing this, Shen Shao’s mother turned and asked, “What’s wrong, Xiao Ai?”
“Nothing, the spoon just fell.” Ai Luo picked up the spoon, but accidentally kicked the chair behind him over. He clumsily uprighted the chair and bowed towards Shen Shao and his mother. “My apologies for disturbing you, I’ll go wash the spoon.”
Shen Shao’s mother murmured to Shen Shao with confusion, “Xiao Ai’s normally pretty stable, what happened? He can’t feed Xiao Li properly or stand.”
Shen Shao looked at Ai Luo’s back and didn’t reply to his mother, but he vaguely smiled.
For his meeting with Miss Fang, Shen Shao deliberately picked out a suit.
Just as Shen Shao exited his room, Ai Luo passed with Xiao Li.
Shen Shao was very handsome in a suit.
Ai Luo stared at Shen Shao and said faintly, “Mr. Shen is dressed so grandly, you must place great importance on your meeting with Miss Fang.”
Shen Shao charismatically straightened his tie and tickled Xiao Li’s chin. Xiao Li giggled and Shen Shao also smiled, “How else am I supposed to find a mother for Xiao Li?”
Ai Luo’s face paled and turned to walk away, seeming to not want Shen Shao to touch the child.
He said in a dry voice, “Mr. Shen, have you heard of the phrase, a stepfather comes right after a stepmother? What if Miss Fang isn’t good towards Xiao Li?”
Shen Shao said lightly, “She won’t. Miss Fang is a DINK, so she doesn’t plan on having children. Even if she doesn’t treat Xiao Li as well as me, she still won’t withhold anything from him.”
Ai Luo seemed anxious, “But what if Xiao Li doesn’t like Miss Fang? Shouldn’t you respect your child’s wishes?”
Shen Shao laughed, “Xiao Li’s only a year old, how could he have opinions? Weren’t you the one who urged me to give him a complete family?”
“Um . . .” Ai Luo didn’t know what to say, his expression was unnatural, “Either way, a stepmother will definitely be worse than a biological mother.”
“Then do you know where said mother is?” Shen Shao sneered.
Ai Luo couldn’t say anything and walked away with Xiao Li, “Then I hope Mr. Shen and Miss Fang will fall in love at first sight!”
Seeing that it was almost time for their meetings, Shen Shao didn’t say anything else to Ai Luo, hurrying to go to the restaurant where he was going to meet Miss Fang.
There, Miss Fang was indeed as his mother had said. She was gentle and compassionate, a very appropriate choice to marry.
Miss Fang also had a good impression of Shen Shao. She was a straightforward person, so she directly told Shen Shao that she appreciated him, so if he also felt similarly, then they should try hanging out more.
Shen Shao smiled, but before he could respond, someone suddenly called from home.
Shen Shao was worried that it was about Xiao Li, so he briefly greeted Miss Fang before picking up.
It was Ai Luo, and he seemed very anxious, “Mr. Shen, I don’t know why, but Xiao Li keeps on crying and I can’t make him stop.”
“What’s wrong? He was fine when I left.”
“I don’t know, he might have gotten a cold, why don’t you come back and check?”
Shen Shao was worried about Xiao Li, and didn’t feel like socializing, “Okay, I’ll come right away.”
Hanging up, Shen Shao explained his situation to Miss Fang. She was understanding and urged Shen Shao to hurry back.
Shen Shao raced back home, but when he got there, he saw Ai Luo sitting on the sofa and Xiao Li quietly lying beside him. There was no sign of the crying Ai Luo talked about on the phone.
“What’s wrong? Didn’t you say Xiao Li’s sick?” Shen Shao walked over to look at Xiao Li’s situation, but he was clearly fine.
“He was crying non-stop when I called. I really couldn’t coax him. But for some reason, he just stopped crying, isn’t it strange?”
“Strange?” Shen Shao sneered, “I think there’s something else at work.”
Ai Luo blinked innocently, pretending not to understand, and asked, “How was Miss Fang? Did I disturb you when I called so suddenly? Would Miss Fang hold it against you?”
“Miss Fang is magnanimous enough to not mind.” Shen Shao said calmly, “And we’re both very satisfied with each other. We’ve already decided on another meeting date to discuss our wedding.”
Ai Luo widened his eyes, saying in surprise, “That fast? You guys have already started talking about marriage on your first meeting?”
“It’s urgent. I need a spouse and Xiao Li needs a mother. Miss Fang is the perfect choice.”
“Xiao Li doesn’t!” Pain flashed across Ai Luo’s eyes as he whispered, “He doesn’t.”
“You’re just a nanny, don’t you think you’re overstepping your boundaries?” Shen Shao’s expression and tone became cold.
Ai Luo stood from the sofa, making his hands into a fist, “Do you like her?”
“It was our first meeting, I can’t decide that.”
“You’ll marry her even though you don’t like her?”
“She’s a good choice. Feelings can be fostered.”
