True or False Heiress: Becoming a Vicious Supporting Female Character (4)
Chu Xiang’s throat was uncomfortable, and she coughed twice in discomfort before speaking in a suppressed voice, “Chu Xuan can’t swim, and neither can I, but all of you can. I pushed her in, and you could immediately rescue her and accuse me just like you’re doing now. So, why would I do such a thing?”
Her question left everyone stunned. Chu Xiang continued, “You think I’m bullying Chu Xuan, but every time, it’s me who gets scolded, isolated, and lectured by the teachers. What grievances has Chu Xuan suffered? Perhaps you’ll say I’m just too stupid, so I got caught. Ha, it’s not me who’s stupid, it’s all of you. Mind your own business, study well, and don’t act like fools being used as pawns. It’s quite laughable.”
Chu Xiang heard the sound of an ambulance and no longer paid attention to these people. She struggled to walk towards the exit. However, after taking a few steps, her legs felt weak. She steadied herself and looked at Shao Yan, saying, “I can’t walk anymore. Could you carry me to the ambulance? Also, please grab my backpack for me. Thank you.”
Her words didn’t leave room for refusal, and Shao Yan indeed didn’t refuse. He bent down and lifted her up horizontally, striding quickly towards the upstairs bedroom. He grabbed the backpack and steadily and swiftly got onto the ambulance.
Chu Xiang glanced at Shao Yan’s body, noticing that he seemed a bit thin, but he had plenty of strength. He carried her all this way without losing his breath. Before closing her eyes, she said to Shao Yan, “Thank you. I can handle the rest from here. I’ll treat you to a meal another day.”
Shao Yan didn’t say a word or nod. He watched as the doors of the ambulance closed and drove away, then called a driver to pick him up.
Chu Xiang’s body was weak. She arrived at the hospital in a dazed state and asked the nurse for help with a full-body examination. She completed the hospitalization procedures and requested a nurse’s assistance. Then, she closed her phone and fell asleep peacefully.
Chu Xiang didn’t contact anyone, so when Chu Xuan finished crying with her best friend and was ready to go home, she was shocked to realize that she didn’t know which hospital Chu Xiang was in. They had come out together, so how would she explain to their parents when she went home alone? And if Chu Xiang made up stories when she returned, how would she respond?
Feeling anxious and troubled, she made a tentative call to the housekeeper at home and felt relieved when she learned that Chu Xiang hadn’t returned home or made any calls. While waiting for a car at the entrance, an idea struck her. She pressed her temples and frowned, pretending to feel dizzy.
Wang Shasha, who had been by her side, immediately supported her and anxiously said, “Are you feeling unwell? No, let’s go to the hospital just in case there’s something wrong.”
Chu Xuan shook her head. “I’m fine. I just need to lie down for a bit. I…” She looked at Wang Shasha, revealing a vulnerable and helpless expression, then forced a smile. “You know, I’m not really part of the Chu family. My parents have already done so much for me, and I don’t know what my sister will say when she gets home. I don’t want to cause any more trouble. I’ll be fine.”
Wang Shasha used to be just a good friend to Chu Xuan, but ever since her background was exposed, she had become increasingly sympathetic towards her. She felt that she had it really tough and so she wanted to do something for her. Just like now, she hugged Chu Xuan and said, “I’ll take you back and accompany you for a while longer. Today must have been terrifying for you, right? Don’t think about anything else, everything will be okay.”
Wang Shasha wished she could expose Chu Xiang’s true nature in front of everyone and kick her out. But she also knew that Chu Xiang was the true heiress of the Chu family. If Chu Xuan did something like that, she might be misunderstood by others. So, she simply felt sorry for her and wanted to spend more time with her, her unlucky and pitiful friend.
In an invisible angle, Chu Xuan smirked, having achieved her goal of bringing her back to the Chu residence.
Chu Xuan tidied her hair and put on light makeup, looking fairly decent, but her eyes were red. As soon as she arrived home, Mother Chu noticed that something was wrong.
Mother Chu approached her in surprise, holding her and examining her. “Xuanxuan, what’s happened? What’s wrong?”
Chu Xuan smiled and held onto her mother’s arm. “There’s really nothing wrong, just when I was cooking, my eyes got irritated from cutting onions. No matter how much I washed them, it didn’t work, and now my eyes are all red.”
Mother Chu believed her. “Oh, I see. There are tricks to cutting onions. I’ll have Wang Yi teach you later.” Then she smiled at Wang Shasha and said, “Shasha, it’s been a while since you last came. Stay for dinner today and I will have the kitchen staff make your favorite dish.”
Wang Shasha had something on her mind and forced a smile. “No, Auntie, my mom and I had planned to go back. I’ll just chat with Xuanxuan for a bit and then leave.”
“Alright, come and play longer another day when you have time.” After saying that, Mother Chu finally noticed something was off. “Xuanxuan, where is your sister?”
Chu Xuan’s expression momentarily faltered, then she stammered, “She… she went to buy study materials and will come back later.”
Mother Chu saw her evasive gaze and narrowed her eyes. “Xuanxuan, you’ve never lied before, so what’s really going on? Why isn’t Chu Xiang coming home? Did she cause trouble again?”
Chu Xuan chuckled. “No, Mom, stop guessing.”
Mother Chu didn’t like the feeling of being kept in the dark. It was evident that Chu Xuan was lying. She took on a solemn expression and said, “Xuanxuan, tell me where Chu Xiang went. If you continue to cover for her, I will get angry.”
Chu Xuan stood in front of her, feeling helpless. Wang Shasha, who was standing beside them, couldn’t bear it any longer and spoke up, “Auntie, you shouldn’t blame Xuanxuan. If you want to blame someone, blame Chu Xiang for going too far.”
