“Who can do such an adorable thing? I want to bite them hard.”
As I raised the corners of my lips and made a sarcastic remark, the baron rubbed his face with a tired expression.
“My Lady, are you jesting now?”
“I really mean it.”
I really wanted to bite them to death. As I gritted my teeth and tried to quell my anger, I heard the sound of a slap.
“What are you doing?”
The Baron took a deep breath and loosened his tie, as if he had made up his mind.
“… I’ll be the bait. Meanwhile…”
“Baron, there are at least five enemies outside. And one of them is enough to kill you.”
The Baron’s face turned pale, perhaps because he was surprised by the fact that there are five men outside, or because he was told that he was not worthy of being a bait. Well, since the baron was a civil servant, he must be unfamiliar with this situation. On top of that, he was extremely lacking in terms of physical strength. Therefore, he was of no help here.
‘We’ll be fortunate if they don’t take us as hostages.’
Fortunately, the defensive magic on the carriage was effective. Even that was like a glass that could break at any time.
I had to do something before everything fell apart. If the shield over the carriage broke, the Baron would be dead.
“That’s all right. The Baron should stay still here.”
“What? What are you going to do?”
“What do you mean? I obviously am going to clean them up.”
I tied up my hair tightly, so that they wouldn’t interfere with the battle, and smiled bitterly at my empty hands.
‘I should’ve brought the sword that Leonard gave me.’
I left it at home because it was a hassle. I regretted it. Who would have known that there would be a situation where magic itself wouldn’t work. I only believed in magic, but I never imagined that I would be hit in the back like this.
“Baron, do you have any weapons?”
He must have some. Even if the Baron had nothing, I would have to salvage a sword as soon as I got out of the carriage.
“…I only have a dagger for self-defense.”
“Great, that’s enough.”
I received the Baron’s dagger. The sharp blade exposed from the scabbard showed it had been well maintained. The blade was short, so it was impossible to inflict deep wounds, but since it was sharp, if I aim for the throat or heart, I should be able to deal a heavy blow with one shot.
“But, My Lady-”
“If you block me again this time, you better understand that we will all die together.”
The Baron quietly closed his mouth as if he knew there was no place to retreat. But his eyes were still full of anxiety and worry. He had no need to worry about me. To even think of becoming a bait with that soft and fragile body… Even if it was ridiculous, I knew he cared for me. He said that he would give his life for me, even though he had no allegiance towards me, so I had to show an appropriate attitude towards him.
‘I’ll take the Baron back home safely.’
Leaning against the carriage door, I listened to the sounds outside. I could hear footsteps slowly surrounding us. Were there about six men outside?
‘… I’ve never dealt with this many before.’
Will it be all right? I’ve fought many people before, but back then, it was easy because Sihael killed more than half of them. But this time I was really alone.
‘It’s impossible to deal with all of them with a dagger.’
First, let’s take away their swords.
Sensing the presence of someone approaching the door, I unexpectedly opened the door and kicked the man in the gut with all my might.
Crack.
With the sound of bones being crushed, the hooded man flew off and rolled on the floor.
“Baron, don’t come out.”
“Young lady!”
I slammed the door, ignoring the baron anxiously reaching out. At the same time, smoothly avoiding the attack that came towards me, I widened my distance and grinned.
‘Their purpose is to capture me alive.’
It was just clear from their attack. They could never kill me. The way they tried to avoid hurting me as much as possible was enough proof of that.
This fight, then, was absolutely advantageous to me.
‘Then there’s nothing to hold back.’
Thinking so, I dashed towards them. One of the men exclaimed in bewilderment, perhaps not knowing that I would be so aggressive.
“It’s okay to hurt her! We just need to capture her alive with her limbs intact!”
“Then you won’t win.”
“What?”
Whoosh,
“Cough, cough.”
I grabbed the falling man by the back of his neck and threw it at the running enemy. The guys who were hit by the large-sized man fell down like dominoes.
One.
Diving between the people who were confused in the collapsed formation, I cut off one of the man’s wrists and stabbed his chest with a dagger.
Two.
Immediately, I picked up the longsword that fell on the floor and turned around to block another attack.
Creeeeaak~
I frowned at the ghastly sound and swung my arms wide. The enemy, who narrowly avoided the attack, quickly widened the distance between us.
“There are three left now.”
It was worth fighting like that. I didn’t feel very threatened because I was determined to only hurt them.
“Now, who will come next?”
I roughly rubbed my sticky cheeks and swung the stolen sword lightly.
‘As expected, a bigger blade is better.’
