Lucas’ yellow pupils sharpen at her words. Faced with evil eyes like that of a beast, Jian flinched and shed tears.
“His Highness Grand Duke Caballero is with Young Lady Edith. Him… if anything happens to him, I’ll… Huuuu!!!”
Swish.
Lucas turned and avoided Jian, who fell as if to hug him, and thanks to this, she ultimately fell flat on the ground.
“It’s Caballero, the boy I don’t know, but now Master is trapped in that mine, right?”
He interrogated Jian, shaking her shoulder as her body rocked on the floor. Jian frowned as if her shoulders were in pain, and raised her voice sharply.
“Yes! Young Lady Edith is trapped in there! With my knight!”
If he doesn’t hurry to separate them, then…
Jian bit her nails as her face turned pale.
‘I should’ve been the one trapped in that cave with Curtis, not Edith!’ she thought at the back of her mind.
It was a golden opportunit to remove Edith, who was in the way, and take Curtis’ heart in earnest. Jian felt crying at the thought of not only having the opportunity blown in front of her eyes, but also having Edith take it away from her. No, she was actually sobbing already.
‘No one comforts me when I cry. Earlier, Curtis also showed more interest in Edith than me.’
Something was wrong. Whether she shed tears or not, Jian looked up at Lucas, who was staring at the mine entrance as if he was about to rush in at any moment. Jian pressed her lips together.
“Fuck, why are you locked up with a boy again?”
Lucas was also annoyed.
Even if she was trapped alone, he was worried that she might get hurt somewhere like being crushed, but when he imagined her in an enclosed space alone with a man other than himself, he felt the back of his head ache. His anger rose to the point where he felt he was on edge.
Swearing briefly, Lucas passed by Jian. He breathed a harsh sigh as he looked at the huge rock that tightly blocked the entrance. A clenched fist slammed! It made a sound and crushed the rock. People that passed by looked back at each other with wide eyes at the scattered stone dust showered down.
“This is too big for me to break.”
Nevertheless, the surface was broken and the rock didn’t move. It was a size that wouldn’t have been possible on a normal day.
“Hey, you punk. Isn’t there anything you can do?”
Lucas looked back at Adrian, who’d been following him around since Edith disappeared. However, the man who shrugged his shoulders and whined when he looked for Edith, wasn’t there.
“Get out of the way.”
Adrian, with his chin raised arrogantly, swept his long bangs and pushed Lucas. With a straight posture, he was about the same height as the worn-out Lucas.
“…What?”
Lucas’ upper lip twisted with a cold expression that made him look like a different person.
“Look at you. As expected, all this time you’ve been acting like a puppy.”
“Don’t nag and get out of the way. Aren’t you going to save Edith?”
Adrian looked back and clicked his tongue at Lucas’ shocked reaction at him opening his mouth.
“What would you do if I got out of the way? Are you some sort of caster?”
Sharma’s casters were considered wizards in Alfrenheim. Unfortunately, His Royal Highness, the only Crown Prince of the empire, had no talent for magic.
“…No.”
The corners of Lucas’ mouth raised mockingly at Adrian, who furrowed his brows in frustration.
“Then what, are you a Sword Master?”
Currently, there was only one Sword Master in Alfrenheim. It was Curtis Caballero, and Curtis was now trapped in the cave with Edith.
“…”
Adrian, who briefly looked down at Lucas’ sneering for a moment at his bare top, pulled down his leash with a helpless expression on his face. The lock on the leash, to which whatever Edith did wouldn’t come off, popped and unlocked so easily that it felt like nothing.
Whoosh!
At that moment, with a flash of light, a dozen knights were summoned before them.
“Your Highness, where on earth have you been…?!”
A knight who spotted Adrian ran towards him with his eyes wide open. He stopped the knights flocking towards him with a single wave of his hand and pointed to the rock blocking the mine entrance.
“It’s noisy, move that.”
Melbourne, the knight commander directly under the Crown Prince, shed tears of joy at the sight of the Crown Prince, who’d been missing for months. He stupidly opened his mouth at Adrian’s unexpected order.
“…What?”
“Move the rock. Right now.”
Adrian, however, merely scolded with a cutthroat tone, as if he didn’t care at all whether his subordinate was freaked out or not.
“If you can’t move them, everyone will be put to death.”
