They were filming at a hotel. Many people were already there, setting up.
Jin Jingyao was going to cosplay a character from one of Wang Lizhi’s older novels, a popular xianxia.
Since it was xianxia, the setting was in pseudo-ancient times, and the characters naturally sported traditional clothing as well as long hair. This made the makeup and clothing more complicated.
The character Jin Jingyao was cosplaying as was Gu Chaoxing. He was a young man who liked wearing red. He fell from an immortal to a demon, honored as the demon lord. He was a very popular villain.
Gu Chaoxing was from a very righteous sect, with a single-minded devotion to the Tao and very chivalrous. However, he fell prey to a conspiracy and was accused of colluding with the demons. From then on, he was no longer tolerated by the righteous side, allowing him to see through their hypocrisy.
Since they had accused him of colluding with demons, he decided to do exactly that and embarked down the path of demonic cultivation.
He wanted to prove that he, Gu Chaoxing, would always be above them, even if he couldn’t be an immortal.
The tragic backstory gave this villain very high popularity, even exceeding the male lead’s. A lot of the novel fans had left comments on Weibo, begging Jin Jingyao to cosplay him. Jin Jingyao hadn’t responded to them.
Jin Jingyao finally announced his plan to cosplay Gu Chaoxing after signing with Wang Lizhi.
Jin Jingyao had two outfits prepared. One was the Gu Chaoxing before he fell to the demonic side, a handsome and inspiring young man. The other was the Gu Chaoxing after becoming a demon, a white haired person dressed in red with a kind of devilish charm.
Wang Lizhi was obviously cosplaying as the male lead in the novel. He was a transmigrator with a golden finger. This kind of stereotypical character really fell short and seemed ordinary compared to Gu Chaoxing, a more unique character.
Jin Jingyao and Wang Lizhi went into the dressing room to prepare. Lu Shijin felt bored just standing there, so he went over to the sofa to watch television.
As a guest appearance, Wang Lizhi’s makeup was simple and didn’t take long. He soon came out.
He had a skip in his step and his chin pointed up. It was clear that he was very satisfied with how he looked.
Wang Lizhi walked over to Lu Shijin, his clothes flowing, and turned in a circle, “Lu-ge, do I look good?”
Lu Shijin glanced at Wang Lizhi.
Wang Lizhi’s appearance was alright. With the skillful hand of the makeup artists, Wang Lizhi turned into an elegant young man dressed in blue from an ancient setting.
But no matter how dressed up his outside was, he couldn’t change what was in his bones.
Wang Lizhi was from a normal background and didn’t have much grace. More than that, his heart was rife with corrosion. He could never display the kind of elegance that an ancient noble’s son had. Instead, he just seemed like an uneducated second-generation.
Lu Shijin lightly hooked up his lips and nodded, “Yes.”
Then, he went back to the TV. He would rather watch Animal Kingdom than watch someone act like a dog.
Wang Lizhi was busy admiring himself, so he couldn’t care less about Lu Shijin’s attitude.
After about half an hour, Jin Jingyao finally came out.
The moment he stepped out, Wang Lizhi and Lu Shijin’s attention focused on him.

Wang Lizhi’s eyes were about to pop out. He unabashedly stared at him with lust. His outfit really matched his vibe as a lustful rascal attracted by beauty.
Even though he was supposed to be the main character, he didn’t have any aura at all in front of Jin Jingyao.
Lu Shijin also looked at Jin Jingyao with appreciation, but he was much more reserved. He would never be like Wang Lizhi, acting like he wanted to stick his eyeballs to him.
This was his man, after all. He’s seen him with clothes and without, it wouldn’t be very shocking to him either way.
But he had never seen him in ancient clothing. Seeing this all of a sudden did make his heart miss a beat.
But Lu Shijin pretended to be calm and lightly glanced at Jin Jingyao, giving him an approving smile before returning to Animal Kingdom.
Not seeing the appreciative shock in Lu Shijin’s eyes, unlike everyone else’s reactions, Jin Jingyao was a bit shocked. But only a slight furrow in his eyebrows showed that as he continued chatting with others.
“Boss, no wonder you’re a cosplaying god. You’re so handsome!” Wang Lizhi trailed his eyes all over Jin Jingyao’s body, praising him. His throat even bobbed as he swallowed.
Jin Jingyao smiled lightly and said warmly, “Thank you. Gu Chaoxing was a very elegant and unworldly person before falling into the demonic world, so I was originally worried about not being able to display that. I feel far more assured after obtaining approval from the original author.”
Hearing this, Wang Lizhi waved his sleeve, smiling, “No, no, boss, you have such a great aura, it’s Gu Chaoxing’s honor to be cosplayed by you!”
Wang Lizhi was so idiotic that his brain stopped functioning upon seeing the big piece of meat called Jin Jingyao.
Stepping on his own character to praise someone else, only Wang Lizhi would be able to do it.
After all, it wasn’t like he crafted the character. He wouldn’t care or think that anything was wrong with it.
Hearing this, Jin Jingyao’s lowered his gaze, seeming a bit unhappy.
“Does da-Pen mean that you look down on Gu Chaoxing?” Jin Jingyao asked.
Wang Lizhi paused, stuttering, “N-no.”
Jin Jingyao smiled with relief, straightening his clothes as he asked casually, “Before, when fans asked me to cosplay Gu Chaoxing, I went to read your novel. I’m very curious as to how you made such a contradictory and sad character, can you explain?”
“Huh? Um . . .” Wang Lizhi didn’t know how to respond. He didn’t write a single word of the novel, so he didn’t even know how Gu Chaoxing was as a character, much less how to write him. He stuttered for a long time before saying, “Uh, I wrote it too long ago, I- I don’t remember his personality at all.”
Lu Shijin’s gaze stayed on the TV, but he couldn’t stop his lips from curling up upon hearing Wang Lizhi’s explanation.
“Really?” Jin Jingyao glanced at Wang Lizhi with a half-smile, but didn’t continue asking, “What a shame.”
After some more chatting, a cameraman came over to tell them that they could start shooting.
“Da-Pen can shoot his solo scenes first. I’m a bit stiff from sitting on the makeup chair, I need to loosen up a bit.” Jin Jingyao suggested.
Wang Lizhi listened and went into a separate room to film. Only Lu Shijin and Jin Jingyao were left in the living room.
