Recount of a Cannon Fodder’s Counterattack (1)

Lu Shijin was someone who was bad at talking, and he had a gentle personality. He would rarely be as harsh as he was today.

Wang Lizhi knew that a lot of people looked down on Lu Shijin, but as their boss, he didn’t do anything when he saw their actions.

He would just pretend to not see and gently shoo them away before comforting Lu Shijin, saying how he had just signed with Platinum Literature, so he couldn’t be too harsh to their workers. Lu Shijin needed to endure a bit more; once his standing was more firm, he would definitely help Lu Shijin.

Wang Lizhi’s inaction only made the bullying intensify.

Wang Lizhi actually did it on purpose. By isolating Lu Shijin, Lu Shijin would only be able to depend on him, making controlling him much easier.

But he didn’t know that the Lu Shijin in front of him wasn’t the same soft persimmon* as before.

*ED: Meaning someone easy to bully

“Lu-ge, they were just joking, you didn’t have to take it so far.” Wang Lizhi smiled without smiling and lowered his voice to warn, “Didn’t I tell you not to say my name in public? That’s enough, it was just a few words, you shouldn’t argue with some women.”

After becoming famous, Wang Lizhi started pretending to be a very educated individual. He thought that his given name ‘Wang Lizhi’ was too vulgar, so he didn’t allow people to call him by that name. One of his biggest fears was having the public call him by name.

Wang Lizhi’s face darkened with annoyance. He waved to the women outside watching the drama. “It’s fine, you guys leave, Lu-ge was just joking.”

“I wasn’t.” Lu Shijin leaned back in his chair with his arms folded and legs crossed, looking at Wang Lizhi with a lifted eyebrow, “They said I’m a waste, that I’m a parasite. Whether or not that’s the case, you should be the most clear, why don’t you help me explain?”

“What should I explain? They’re just random comments, just ignore them.” Wang Lizhi emphasized, “There’s an important saying, you lose if you take things seriously. Who cares about how other people think? It’s enough as long as I know and understand.”

“No, it’s not okay. I don’t like being insulted by other people. Let’s make this clear.” Lu Shijin pointed at the gossipy women outside. “From now on, this place can have them and not me, or me and not them. Wang Lizhi, I suggest you think about who you want.”

Those women became anxious at this and pointed at Lu Shijin with their freshly painted nails.

“Hey! Surname Lu, who do you think you are? How can you let da-Pen fire us?”

“That’s right, what’s your standing? We’re genuine employees of Platinum Literature, you think you can fire us at will? What do you count as, tsk!”

“Da-Pen, I’ve wanted to say this for a long time. You could find anyone with your current status, so why did you find someone like this?”

The women’s words became worse and worse, and the smile on Lu Shijin’s face deepened, but never reached his eyes. His eyes shone coldly, waiting to see how Wang Lizhi would resolve this.

“Stop talking!” Wang Lizhi glared at the women for a second. Seeing their idol angry, the women were scared into silence, but they continued to glare at Lu Shijin.

“Do you have to make things difficult for me?” Wang Lizhi bent over and asked Lu Shijin through gritted teeth.

Lu Shijin sneered, “How am I making things difficult? Get it through your head that I’m the victim, the victim’s making things difficult for you? Sure, if you see it like that, then I’ll just leave and you can stay as a good person.”

Lu Shijin stood up and didn’t look at Wang Lizhi again. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and started walking away.

Wang Lizhi had not found anyone to lean on yet, so he definitely couldn’t let go of Lu Shijin. He hurriedly blocked Lu Shijin.

“Why are you blocking me?” Lu Shijin had a bad expression, “You want to be a good person so I’m letting you do so, what else do you want me to do?”

“That’s enough, stop acting like a little kid. Don’t you just want me to back you up?” Wang Lizhi took in a breath, assumed a helpless expression and turned towards the women. “Listen, Lu-ge was the person who helped me when I was going through a difficult time, and I love and cherish him greatly. I appreciate him a lot. It’s not what you think, he’s lazing around because I want him to! If I hear anything like that again, even if you are Platinum Literature’s employees, I’m going to submit my resignation to the HR department!”

This only made the women hate Lu Shijin and pity Wang Lizhi even more.

Their da-Pen was so good, not forgetting his past even after making it big, such a righteous person was getting eaten away by a parasite! God really had no eyes!

The damn parasite even dared to use breaking up as a way to threaten da-Pen to fire them, how evil!

“Are you satisfied now?” Wang Lizhi asked Lu Shijin coldly.

Lu Shijin snorted, “Just this?”

“What else do you want?!” Wang Lizhi warned Lu Shijin with his eyes.

“You’re not even thirty yet, is your memory this bad? I just said that either you can fire them or I can leave, what do you not understand?”

Lu Shijin wanted Wang Lizhi to be even more inhuman, so how could this tiny argument satisfy him?

The previous host was a soft persimmon. He was clearly the author of all those novels, but not only did Wang Lizhi take the honor for himself, he also forced Lu Shijin to be accused of being a parasite.

But Lu Shijin wasn’t the previous host and couldn’t hold himself back.

Wang Lizhi’s expression was already very bad. He had just started working with Platinum, if he really fired them for Lu Shijin, and news of this spread out, what would he do in the future?

Wang Lizhi  was very angry, but he couldn’t ruin his persona as a kind gentleman, so he poured all his anger onto Lu Shijin.

Lu Shijin was clearly able to endure all the previous, even worse insults, so why was he acting out right now? Was he deliberately screwing him over?!
