Chapter 68.2

7 min read

Julia spent the day in Agares’s office until the sun eventually went down. Then, as she could no longer take much time because of her official duties, Paimon stayed with her instead.

As the moon rose, Julia finally moved into Bael’s bedroom. Bael just happened to be standing by the window. He had his eyes closed while frowning tiredly. His naked upper body was reflected under the red moonlight and his strong, deeply sculpted muscles had been dyed red, which made him look even more menacing.

Julia, who was fascinated by his figure, stood there blankly for a while before she belatedly shook her head.

‘Should I call out to him? But I don’t want to intrude.’

She had even knocked before coming in. At any rate, if he never heard it, then it was simply clear that he had been lost in thoughts.

Julia cautiously stepped into the room as she took off her outer jacket that had kept her warm. In the bedroom, where everything had been large enough for his kingly frame, there was a tiny hanger set aside for her own. The moment she reached out her hand, there was a rattle when she had accidentally bumped into the clothes hanger.

“…”

Bael’s red eyes instantly turned to Julia’s stiff back. The light in his eyes, which had been in blue hue, ultimately softened when she saw Julia’s back. Even so, his expression basically didn’t change that much, so when Julia looked at him, it just appeared like an insensitive face instead.

“I’m sorry. I should have been a little more careful.”

Julia rolled her eyes embarrassingly as she pulled out her nightgown and robe. Lately, it seemed like her relationship with Bael was on the verge of relaxing up a bit, but still, she shouldn’t have ruined the atmosphere with such a stupid mistake. It was all her own fault.

Julia waited for a moment for his response, but Bael remained motionless as he simply narrowed his eyes. He appeared to be in a bad mood.

“Sorry……”

Bael’s head soon turned back out the window. He looked the same as when she had first entered the room. In the end, Julia just undid the straps of her dress with her shoulders getting all droopy.

Bael hated having his privacy invaded the most and she just broke that. She was an utter fool. In fact, she should have come to the bedroom a little later. While she was thinking about this and that, the dress eventually fluttered gently at her feet.

Julia picked up the clothes and pulled herself up. And suddenly, she became perplexed.

Bael, who had walked near the bed before she even knew it, was now clearly staring at her. He was standing in the dark shadow with a pair of eyes that seemed to be admiring a work of art.

Julia hurriedly turned around. Her chest felt tight for no apparent reason. She felt ashamed for the first time ever since she was born with a skinny body that was as thin as chopsticks. Even though she knew that she didn’t feel like a simple object of an erotic love.

‘The timing must have overlapped when he was just trying to take a rest right now. I think that I just turned around too hastily—does he think that I’m being too conscious? What if he assumes that I don’t even understand my own place?’

Julia felt that her body was far from being voluptuous and healthy. It was absolutely stiff like a piece of wood and no one would actually be greedy for her body.

She felt that his stare was scrutinizing the area around the nape of her neck. She thought that it must have been her illusion of course, but she then raised her head with a tiny feeling of doubt. However, she soon shook her head instead.

‘I don’t know if it’s Lady Agares, but there’s no way that the Demon King would actually do that.’

Julia struggled to suppress her nerves. The wet gaze that she could feel at her nape was sliding down to her slender back, but Julia still thought that she was simply mistaken.

And that other person was none other than Bael himself. It was actually an absurd thing to say that he had been giving her such a lustful gaze.

Donning a thin robe over her negligee eventually made her feel more comfortable. The weight became almost the same as a normal casual dress. It was due to the combination of such high-quality fabric along with jewelry as well as the weight of lace.

Julia finally turned around after she had arranged and hung up the casual clothes that she had worn today. As expected, Bael was already leaning against the head of the bed while looking down at his palms. She wondered why he was looking at his bare hands all of a sudden, but she didn’t make the mistake of asking the particular question.

“Have you heard? They said that an envoy might come from the ground.”

She climbed carefully to the other side of the bed where Bael had already lain. She lifted the large, heavy blanket before burrowing herself into it. In order to stabilize his overflowing magic at every moment, she had to get as close as possible to him without any direct skin contact.

“So, Lord Barbatos must have been a bit busy. Lady Agares as well. I’m very sorry that they still agreed to be my escorts. I don’t want to cause them any trouble… is something wrong?”

Julia’s voice gradually faded. It was because of the fact that her eyes had suddenly met with Bael’s. His expression was absolutely stiff. She was trying to ease the awkward atmosphere in her own way, but she regretted it right after because she was perhaps simply repeating what he had already heard about.

Julia pretended to be indifferent while trying to not make it obvious, but Bael’s gaze was insistently fixed on her face.

“The humans demanded to have you released. Do you want to go?”

Most of the conversations that the two usually had were only for Julia. Before she went to sleep, Bael would normally listen to it through one ear and let it out like a mere lullaby. He never responded to it at all.

Julia blankly blinked her eyes, but Bael kept on asking with eyes that were darker than before.

“You were trying to go back to them, right?”

His firm fingers slowly began to stroke Julia’s slender neck. If it wasn’t the answer that he wanted, she had been in danger of losing her breath at any moment, but she didn’t feel afraid—oddly enough.

“No, I don’t want to go. I’ve also asked this from Lady Agares. Please don’t let me go.”

“Why?”

“Because I’m happy to be here. Although there is a time limit until I’m no longer useful. Does it seem strange that there are humans who reject the earth?”

She looked at him calmly. Bael was still staring at her, but the menacing light had already faded. Instead, his fingers slid down a little desperately before he started rubbing Julia’s upper chest. Repeatedly—in fact, several more times as if to check the place where the engraving had etched on.
