True or False Heiress: Becoming a Vicious Supporting Female Character (45)

After thinking for a moment, Shao Yan didn’t want Chu Xiang to miss the period when the puppies’ eyes were still closed, so he took out his phone and made a video call to her.

Chu Xiang had just moved into the dormitory and finished making her bed. She answered the call in a low voice, “What’s up? Is there something?”

Shao Yan directed the camera towards the puppies. Chu Xiang had never really raised this kind of small pet before, especially not ones that were just newborns. She immediately showed a surprised expression, saying, “Wow, they’re so cute!”

Shao Yan started filming around the puppies, allowing her to see them from all angles. She regretted not going to the Shao residence. She walked to the window at the end of the corridor and asked, “Are the puppies sleeping? Have you fed them? What are they eating?”

She had so many questions, and answering them required saying a lot of words. Shao Yan had long been accustomed to not speaking, unable to open his mouth at all. He sat on the carpet with a troubled expression, turning his head to look at the veterinarian.

The veterinarian had been informed of Shao Yan’s condition when he was called in, so he tentatively asked, “Should I answer?”

Shao Yan nodded, and the veterinarian began to answer Chu Xiang’s questions.

However, Shao Yan’s brow slowly furrowed deeper and deeper.

It was supposed to be a time for him to be alone with Chu Xiang, but he couldn’t answer her questions. These were just a few simple questions, but as they spent more time together, just as his parents had said, Chu Xiang would not only have questions but also want to play around. He couldn’t remain silent. He didn’t like others speaking on his behalf to Chu Xiang, nor did he like her being entertained by the veterinarian’s words.

The longer Chu Xiang and the veterinarian talked, the more Shao Yan felt uncomfortable. When they finished discussing the puppies, he stood up, opened the door, and looked at the veterinarian.

The veterinarian stood up in surprise and hesitated, “Young Master, do you want me to leave?”

Shao Yan nodded, and the veterinarian, somewhat bewildered, picked up his medical kit and left. Shao Yan closed the door and returned to the puppies. Chu Xiang laughed, “What’s up? Have you already learned how to take care of the puppies?”

Shao Yan made a sound of agreement.

Chu Xiang knew that it wasn’t easy for him to overcome his speech difficulties. After thinking for a moment, she said, “I still need to get to know my roommates, tidy up my things, so let’s end the call for now. Can you send me videos, photos, and messages? It’s not convenient for me to video chat in the girls’ dormitory, so let’s communicate through messages.”

That was easier than speaking. Shao Yan said one word, “Okay.”

After hanging up, Chu Xiang returned to her dorm room. The dormitory leader asked curiously, “Was that your classmate? The two classmates who were with you just now seemed to have a good relationship with you.”

Chu Xiang nodded with a smile, “Yes, my classmates are all very nice. They would help me if I have any difficulties. Maybe because it’s my first day in the dormitory, she was a bit worried, so she called for a video chat.”

“Oh, um… Are you done with everything? Do you need any help?” The dormitory leader glanced at Chu Xiang’s neatly arranged bed and desk. She noticed that everything was in order, even better organized than their own.

Chu Xiang smiled and said, “Thank you, but it’s not necessary. I’m used to doing these things, and everything is already taken care of. We’re not in the same grade, so we can’t go out and come back together anymore. However, it’s fate that we met in the same dormitory. Maybe we’ll live together for a long time in the future. I hope we can get along harmoniously. I arrived late, so if I do something wrong or against the dormitory rules, please feel free to let me know.”

“Oh, okay.” The dormitory leader was a bit surprised. Who said Chu Xiang didn’t like to talk? She seemed quite open and generous, didn’t she?

Among the four people in the dormitory, apart from Chu Xiang, the other three were from out of town. Their parents had busy jobs and often traveled to and from the capital for business, so they decided to let them stay on campus for their studies. The dormitory leader came from the least privileged background. It was actually quite a struggle for her family to support her studies, but she had excellent grades and was responsible. So, her family gritted their teeth and sent her here, hoping she would have a bright future and make useful connections. Compared to the other girls from wealthy families, she was better at handling trivial matters, so the other two chose her as the dormitory leader.

Their family backgrounds were not as good as Chu Xiang’s, but the other two girls were also pampered at home. Coming to school allowed them to meet many new friends. They also had a desire to make friends with girls like Yu Nan and Dong Fei, the popular ones. They would often participate in small gatherings within their social circle and go to clubs for fun, so they had heard quite a lot about Chu Xiang’s situation. However, now that they had met Chu Xiang in person, they found her completely different.

Chu Xiang was actually a very nice person, cheerful, and generous. She had good manners and was well-mannered. In any case, they had a good impression of her right from the beginning. If they could put aside the prejudices brought by those rumors, they would certainly be happy to be friends with her.

However, the rumors had been circulating for three months, and where there was smoke, there was fire. They were all a bit cautious and had no immediate plans to be close friends with her. They wanted to observe and see for themselves.

While chatting with her roommates, Chu Xiang also replied to Shao Yan’s WeChat messages. Soon, it was late into the night.
