True or False Heiress: Becoming a Vicious Supporting Female Character (28)
The principal reluctantly accepted her explanation and instructed someone to check the surveillance footage based on the specific times she mentioned.
The school’s surveillance covered a span of 20 days. During this period, Chu Xuan had framed Chu Xiang twice: once at the vacation house swimming pool, which was outside the school, and the other time when she locked herself in the restroom using a mop.
The footage showed that several girls entered the restroom before and after Chu Xuan, including Chu Xiang, who entered and came out after a while, while other girls came out in groups of two or three. However, Chu Xuan did not come out until a teacher entered after the class started and discovered that her door was blocked.
Because her compartment was the one closest to the wall, right across from the storage room, the mop placed there wasn’t very noticeable. The principal questioned the dozen or so girls from the surveillance footage, and only two of them noticed the mop. However, they assumed it was left there by a janitor or that the compartment was broken and didn’t think much of it.
The other girls didn’t pay attention at all and didn’t remember whether they had been to the restroom at that particular time or if there was a mop there.
Since they didn’t remember, it wasn’t necessarily the person who left the restroom last who did it. It could have been someone before them who left the mop, and the subsequent girls didn’t notice. In that case, all the dozen or so girls were suspects, and there was no evidence to prove that Chu Xiang was responsible.
The classmates who claimed to have seen Chu Xiang in the restroom had only encountered her while washing their hands. Where did they see her place or not place the mop?
Because they were all questioned, one of the girls went back to the classroom and informed her classmates about the situation with the surveillance footage. Now everyone knew that the only thing captured by the surveillance was the incident in the restroom. If they were to suspect someone, all the dozen or so girls had equal grounds, but there was no evidence.
But what about Chu Xuan? Why did she take so long to come out? If she finished using the restroom and found the door stuck, she could have called for help, right? If she entered after everyone had left and then found herself locked in, how long was she in there? Did she have constipation?
By this time, it was already during the evening self-study period, and no teachers came. The students started discussing again. In the end, they somehow felt that Chu Xuan intentionally framed Chu Xiang during that extended period she spent inside the restroom. If Chu Xuan was innocent and truly being bullied, then the only possibility for her to stay in there for so long was constipation!
Even the most perfect goddess, once labeled with constipation, would immediately fall from her divine pedestal. Either crying wolf or suffering from constipation, neither scenario was a good thing to Chu Xuan.
Some classmates wanted to ask Chu Xiang about her past, but she claimed to be unsure about many questions and wanted to focus on her exercises. True to her words, she continued to solve problems without engaging in any conversations.
People found it uninteresting, and some started studying while others engaged in discussions. After all, if the truly virtuous and beautiful Chu Xuan had a downfall, it was certainly a topic worth discussing. They now wanted to know if Chu Xuan was truly malicious or innocent. They heard that the person who bullied Chu Xuan wore a mask, and since Chu Xuan didn’t see their face clearly, it was possible that someone else did such a thing by jumping in through the window. She still had the potential to be innocent.
Chu Xuan hadn’t returned to the classroom, and opinions about her were divided into two camps. Wang Shasha was angry and said that Chu Xuan would never frame someone falsely. At most, she may have failed to recognize the appearance of the culprit. On the other hand, Chu Xiang had been accusing Chu Xuan without any evidence, which was truly annoying.
However, once suspicion arises, it is not easily dispelled. Otherwise, why do people believe in baseless rumors in the entertainment industry, no matter how much clarification is provided?
In this instance, most of the students in the class no longer joined Wang Shasha in berating Chu Xiang. They had become neutral and, until new evidence emerged, they were unable to decide whether to believe Chu Xiang or Chu Xuan.
Wang Shasha herself felt frustrated and embarrassed. She had berated Chu Xiang so many times today, being harsh in front of classmates and teachers, only to have the surveillance footage confirm that it wasn’t her who did it. The principal even warned her to treat her classmates with kindness and not spread rumors. She had never felt so ashamed in her life. Why was she the only one reprimanded by the principal?
She felt a bit resentful and thought to herself, It was Chu Xuan who was bullied. Why couldn’t she be strong and stand up for herself? Every time, it’s me who comes to her defense, while Chu Xuan just cries and later forgives Chu Xiang, making me look like the aggressive one.
Thinking about this period of time, everyone praised Chu Xuan for her kindness, while she felt that she was being overshadowed.
And now, some classmates were looking at her with suspicion in their expressions. Why? She was only trying to help and stand up for her sister. If Chu Xuan could handle the situation herself and resolve the problem, she wouldn’t be doubted by her classmates.
At least, if Chu Xuan had told her that the person who cut her uniform was wearing a mask and might not be Chu Xiang, she wouldn’t have been so fixated on blaming Chu Xiang. After all, what did it have to do with her? It was truly frustrating!
After discussing everything that the classmates could discuss, someone suddenly said, “Was that disgusting thing really so repulsive? I really want to see it.”
