True or False Heiress: Becoming a Vicious Supporting Female Character (23)
The girls were stunned for a moment, then they looked at Chu Xiang and sneered. “You’re really good at making up stories. We’ve known Chu Xuan for two years. Do you think we’ll listen to your nonsense?”
Yang Xueqing stepped forward and said, “Knowing someone for two years doesn’t necessarily mean understanding them. We may know the surface but not what’s in their heart.”
“Are you also siding with her?”
Yang Xueqing looked at the torn clothes and said, “I’m just analyzing calmly. Until we have evidence, it’s best for everyone not to take sides. Today, Chu Xiang changed clothes with me, and after changing, she went to the restroom. It didn’t take long before she bought water and went back to the gymnasium. She didn’t have time to hide here and wait for everyone to leave before doing these things.”
A classmate who encountered Chu Xiang in the restroom glanced at their watch and said, “I saw Chu Xiang coming out of the restroom about three minutes before class. She went in before me, so she was in the restroom for at least four minutes before class.”
Yang Xueqing said, “We went to the restroom together after changing clothes. The timing should be around that time.”
Several classmates said, “When we entered the gymnasium, we saw Chu Xiang buying water there.”
Yu Nan snorted coldly, “Did you hear clearly? We only have 15 minutes for the break in this class. Changing clothes, going to the restroom, buying water—people saw all of that. They know roughly when it happened. When would Chu Xiang have time to bully someone? If we’re talking about finding a secluded corner to fight for a bit, that might be possible, but running to the locker room to cut clothes? Show me a demonstration first!”
The girls looked at each other, whispered a few words, and felt that there wasn’t really enough time to do such a thing. Moreover, if Chu Xiang really ran around doing so many things, someone would definitely have seen her.
Now that Chu Xuan wasn’t present, and there was no other evidence, they felt that they might have wrongly accused Chu Xiang this time. The class committee member pushed up her glasses and tried to mediate, “Alright, it’s time for class. Everyone, hurry up and change clothes. Let’s ask Chu Xuan about this when we find her.”
Yu Nan pulled Chu Xiang to change clothes and said to her, “Don’t be afraid. These people have nothing better to do. If Chu Xuan falsely accuses you again, I’ll speak up for you.”
Chu Xiang smiled and said, “Thank you, but it doesn’t matter. I think I played into her hands by constantly engaging with her before. If I ignore her, she’ll just be a clown jumping around. No matter what she does, she won’t become the biological daughter of the Chu family anyway.”
The two of them spoke without deliberately lowering their voices, and more than ten girls in the same class heard them. Some rolled their eyes and laughed, some glanced at Chu Xiang, feeling that she had gone too far in bullying others. Two or three were swayed by her words, thinking that it didn’t seem reasonable for a biological daughter to be so rebellious. If it was a foster daughter deliberately framing her, it actually made sense based on the logical facts.
Everyone quickly cleaned up, changed into their uniforms, and returned to the classroom. On the way, some girls informed the boys about the incident. The classmates in the class noticed that Chu Xuan and Wang Shasha’s seats were empty. They couldn’t help but gather in small groups to discuss, occasionally glancing at Chu Xiang, as if afraid that others wouldn’t know they were talking about her.
Yu Nan and Yang Xueqing were a bit worried about Chu Xiang. They didn’t completely trust her in their hearts, but at least during the short time she was alone during the break, they firmly believed that Chu Xiang didn’t have time to do something bad. However, being accused by so many people without any reason or evidence tilted the balance of trust in Chu Xiang’s favor in their hearts.
During the last self-study session, everyone’s hearts were restless. They couldn’t concentrate on studying due to the incident of the shredded school uniform. However, Chu Xiang remained focused and devoted to solving problems, without being distracted at all.
A boy at the back of the classroom chuckled lightly, “Just forget about it, she doesn’t even care. What are you all speculating about?”
Another boy chimed in, “She’s kinda cool.”
In the eyes of the boys, the conflict between Chu Xiang and Chu Xuan was just a minor disagreement that didn’t affect them much. Previously, when Chu Xiang kept her head down and didn’t speak, they, like others, thought there was something wrong with her and didn’t like her.
But since the day Chu Xiang woke up by the pool, she had changed. When she looked at them and questioned them, they felt a bit guilty. What were a bunch of guys doing, gossiping like that? They weren’t acting like real men at all.
When Chu Xiang publicly questioned Chu Xuan whether she was a saint or a scheming girl, many boys laughed. It felt unexpectedly cool. So, Chu Xiang could speak, and she was quite eloquent. With a soft voice, a few interrogative sentences made Chu Xuan cry over being “bullied.”
Today, they saw a group of girls accusing Chu Xiang of shredding Chu Xuan’s school uniform, but Chu Xiang was completely focused on her studies and didn’t even acknowledge them. Suddenly, they thought she was cool, a girl with a strong personality. Plus, she was pretty and had a beautiful smile.
The majority of the boys had long abandoned their initial rejection of her.
