Si-Jin’s tone was firm but his voice was soft, so not very effective. It was clear he thought Na-Yool was in a daze because she was still feeling sleepy.
It was only natural to think so, considering she had earlier sit drowsily at the kitchen table and barely managed to drink the smoothie Si-Jin had forced into her mouth. After starting living with him, Na-Yool woke up earlier and the flow of her daily life changed, but there were still subtle jet lags in her body.
She quietly nodded. Si-Jin glanced at her face ans asked:
“Should I buy you a cup of coffee?”
“It’s okay. We have it in the office anyway…”
“I put you to bed early for once, but why do you still look so tired?”
“I am not even a baby, what ‘put me to bed’…”
“I spared you. Precisely because you said you were sleepy.”
“……”
“Yes, I mean that.”
Na-Yool had been particularly tired that night from the early evening, probably because she had been visiting houses here and there all day long. Like every day, without any surprise, Si-jin got excited without much stimulus. But in a weary mood, Na-Yool busily repelled his attempts. It was not even that difficult. Even if Si-Jin seemed like an insensitive pervert, he was a man easy to defeat.
If she said she did not want it, never would he first give her some space to then push for it, try to force it a little, or insistently wake up the person. It was such a patently obvious rule, but when considering how full the world is of people who cannot understand it — he definitely was a decent guy.
“…Clothes off, no less.”
Of course, Na-Yool had already taken her clothes off by then.
Si-Jin may have just been taken aback by the belated rejection, but to Na-Yool, it was the result of a painstaking effort. After all, she might have firmly rejected him if it has been any other man. She found it a wonder that, when he kissed her shoulder, her first thought was to ponder whether to give in despite her tiredness, where she would usually straightforwardly reject him. Also, she was not completely against having sex. But eventually, she had resigned herself and pushed his head away.
Si-Jin’s expression when he looked at her in bewilderment as she bit his chest to express her rejection was still vivid in Na-Yool’s mind. A warm smile drew on her face as if recalling a cute scene – actually far from reality – but then her brows frown in a dubious look.
“You did something shady by yourself, didn’t you?”
“I didn’t.”
“Like, touching people in their sleep…”
“Your breasts are hard not to touch.”
The man did nothing weird, but admits to fondling your breasts. How is one supposed to react to that?!
“That’s it?”
“Why, do you wish for more?”
“That is not what—”
“Want to know if I jerked off while looking at you sleeping?”
“Are you sick!”
Rather than ‘how can you do that’, the rebuke focused more on ‘how can you say such a thing outside’. Of course, it did not seem to matter either way to the pervert.
“Sorry to disappoint, but I did not.”
“If you did not then that’s it. No need to say more.”
“I could, though.”
“I don’t want to know how unrestrained you are.”
“Who could resist this nice fap material—”
“—Who is ‘fap material’?”
Na-Yool frowned at his untimely vulgarity, to which Si-Jin added well-behavedly.
“Of course, if you allow me.”
As she looked at him with a puzzled look, he tilted his head while looking straight ahead.
“Didn’t you ask me to keep some distance and take care of myself?” Si-Jin added with the triumphant look of someone who had listened to her well. Does a pervert cease to be one if she allows him to do whatever he wants?
“When did I say that you needed my permission to…”
“Sounds like a permission then?”
“Don’t keep me involved in weird acts.”
As Na-Yool dispelled the accusation with a shake of head, Si-Jin smiled wickedly.
“You’re already hooked on it.”
“I have to get off before exit 4. Stop your early morning harassment and pull up there.”
“Even without telling me to pull it up, it already, by itself—”
“Ah, really!”
Na-Yool reached a hand out to cover his mouth. Her palm was licked by the man, an uncanny bright smile on his face. She freaked out and removed her hand, the car also concurrently coming to a stop.
“Get off.”
“Sal– You smeared it with saliva…!”
“I didn’t even suck on it, just a tiny lick.”
With a slight revolted look, Na-Yool hold onto the door she was about to open and warned him.
“Let’s have uneventful mornings, shall we.”
Si-Jin nodded obediently, but it was as if falling on deaf ears. Na-Yool helplessly shook her head and got out of the car. Then she contemptuously scurried toward the crossing without looking back.
The place she got off was in a completely different direction from Exit 1, which is close to the company. She was reluctant at first to go to work with Si-Jin, even just to be dropped close by. She had therefore devoted all her energy into anxiously scanning her surroundings, but humans are adaptive creatures after all. Everyone at the company were coming from another direction, so there was no reason to be anxious. Instead, this short walk now felt quite refreshing.
However, carelessness always has dangerous consequences.
“Ms. Na-Yool!”
“……”
The sound of her heartbeat leaped up to her throat in an instant. Or rather, it might instead have dropped. Either way, the exclamation had turned Na-Yool into a stone. In such an obvious manner that Seung-Jae, who had happily greeted her, awkwardly blinked his eyes at her frozen expression.
“Where did you arrive from?”
As she started walking alongside him, Na-Yool was about to answer “Exit 4” when she realized that Seung-Jae had just come out from there. It made no sense to pretend coming from another exit or the bus stop, and too suspicious to say she came by taxi to be dropped here. Her eyes quickly found a nearby cafe.
“…I stopped by this cafe. But I got confused with direction and went the opposite way.”
“It sounds like you took the train I missed. Is the coffee good there?”
“Yeah, so I come to buy some every once a while.”
Na-Yool smiled as naturally as possible.
“Weird, the other day Yoon Jin said it was not very tasty…”
One word from Seung-Jae, and she was back to facing danger. She narrowly maintained her smile.
“It obviously depends on which staff prepare it.”
“Indeed, you are right.”
“And you, why did you come out from here? It’s a long way to the office.”
“Lately I often go to that other coffee shop over there before work. Their coffee is delicious.”
“Is that so?”
“When I bought you lunch there last week you said it was good. Do you remember?”
“Ah!”
“That’s the one.”
Na-Yool threw a rough glance in the direction to which Seung-Jae pointed towards, when her face abruptly covered in sweat upon noticing Si-Jin’s car stopped at a traffic light. She immediately looked away, fearing that Seung-Jae would spot it by following her gaze.
“Oh!!”
But regardless of her wish, Seung-Jae had good eyesight. Like he had previously boasted about.
“Isn’t that the President’s car?”
“What?”
“There, about to turn left.”
“…I don’t see it.”
Na-Yool opted for a blind-and-uninterested attitude, like she had no clue what he was talking about. Seung-Jae however insisted on giving out the car type and continued to explain in detail which car was in front, which was behind, and the one next to it.
“I don’t know.” replied Na-Yool with an innocent shrug.
“The white one.”
“I really can’t tell.”
“How can you even design with such an eyesight?”
“I myself wonder.”
Na-Yool knew that she could have sounded more natural, and that the simple fact that Si-Jin’s car was close to where she appeared was most likely not enough for Seung-Jae to deduct anything – but she had been caught off guard and could not get over the shock. Seung-Jae, totally oblivious to her inner disturbance, joyfully changed the topic.
“Ah by the way, did you see the chat?”
“What chat?”
“Our team’s chat. Mrs. Kang-Hee proposed to have a dinner together when we are free. She feels like going nuts from looking after her baby all day.” [T/N: Kang-Hee is one of their 2 coworkers on maternity leave]
“Ah……”
“Everyone is busy this week, but we should finish early today, no?”
“I think so.”
“Then how about today?”
“Sure.”
“Don’t you have any other plans?”
“No, let’s do as you said.”
Na-yool’s answer was overly encouraging as a result of her remaining uneasiness, but Seung-Jae nodded with joy.
As soon as they reached the crosswalk, Si-Jin’s car turned left and disappeared in the distance. Suddenly, Na-Yool’s heart pounded. She heard Seung-Jae informing her once more than this was the car, but she ignored him and swiftly crossed the street at the green light.
