After about fifteen minutes, they arrived at a wood of peach trees. The peach blossom were just in season. They could smell the light fragrance, which was similar to the smell of Tianhan.
Qingfu looked around with curiosity.
The testing stone was in the deep of the forest. They walked another fifteen minutes silently.
The place of the testing stone was almost barren, which was quite different from the outer area. Qingfu’s guess was that the testing stone should be a transparent jade with shining lights. However, it was only a normal stone, as tall as a person.
Tianhan closed his eyes and spoke some spells. Then he knocked the stone slightly. In a second, the stone emitted some golden lights.
Qingfu was a little fidgety. “Then, what shall I do now?”
Tianhan said, “Put your hand on it, and then use your heart to feel it.”
In fact, only Qingfu was nervous. In Tianhan’s mind, he was so sure that her function was Gold. Stones were always Gold, and though she was a jade, she belonged to this group.
When Qingfu put her hand on the stone, the color of it suddenly changed, which led to a different expression on Tianhan’s face.
Qingfu felt the scorching heat of the stone, so she wanted to take back her hand. However, Tianhan brutally pushed her hand on it.
Iimmense pain made her clench her teeth. “Lord Tianhan. . .”
“Bear it.” Tianhan squinted, and with unbelieving eyes, he stared at the stone.
Qingfu followed his gaze to look at the stone, too.
The ordinary stone was now fully covered by a light of jade, beautifully transparent, and it seemed that it was absorbing some invisible energies. Several whirlpools appeared around the stone. When Qingfu felt tired and almost lost her senses, the stone suddenly emitted more dazzling lights, then it turned back to usual.
Qingfu got some of her energies back, but she couldn’t stand steady even with this source, so she fell. Tianhan hurried to support her and poured some energy into her body.
Qingfu took a deep breath. With Tianhan’s help, she became better. But when she turned to look at him, his eyes were still fixed on the stone, a weird expression on his face.
Qingfu bit her lips, and then she asked, “Lord Tianhan, what’s my function?”
Tianhan looked back at her with something strange in his eyes nobody could understand. “Function not known.”
“What?” Qingfu was so struck by this answer. “What does it mean, ‘not known’? I . . . I . . . am out of the range?”
Tianhan sighed with regret. “There are two more functions beyond the five basic. Darkness and Brightness. But whatever you are . . .”
“And?”
“The two functions are both dangerous.”
Qingfu still had more questions, but Tianhan already turned to the way out. “Let’s get back first.”
She followed him immediately. She already found he didn’t want to go deep on this question, so she had Wuzui to consult. Though the man was not reliable, he knew many things.
What are the two functions? Qingfu squinted and thought about this. Why are the two dangerous? Based on the surface meaning of the two words, Brightness meant good and Darkness meant evil. She coughed. She was from the No Worries Cave, so she probably should belong to the evil side. She was thrilled.
They were silent on the way back. Tianhan kept his head lowered to think about something. Qingfu dared not interrupt him, so she made herself be happy with the game of guessing his thoughts.
When they arrived at the square, Tianhan showed his mercy to her. “Today much of your energies were consumed, so you can go back to rest now. Let’s practice tomorrow morning.”
Qingfu nodded quickly. She stood up suddenly.
Tianhan lifted his eyebrows. “I just told you to take a rest.”
“Let me serve you a tea.” Qingfu looked at him with expectation.
Gosh! This little girl hadn't forgot her mission.
Tianhan’s lips twitched, then he nodded to her. “No need. I dislike drinking teas. I do not delight in delicacies, and I have no habit of having baths. You only need to practice your daily training course; that’s enough.”
“So . . .” Qingfu shrugged. He must be dissatisfied with my service, she thought with sorrow.
