Chapter 255

Threat (6)

She looked up at him as she burst into tears. Her heart was beating so fast that the inside of her ribs felt bruised. Her eyes were like ruins swept away by disaster. She seemed to have been swept away by the strong winds, both her composure and her calm judgment.

Lily couldn’t help it. She couldn’t calm down when it was about him.

Vlad’s eyes contorted in self-blame. “Look. I am fine.”

He showed her the hand that had been cut by the blade. The traces of blood were dire and terrifying. However, there were no injuries.

She blinked. Could it be that tears had blurred her vision, so she couldn’t see properly? She clearly saw him draw a sword with its blade. But when she wiped away her tears and looked again, there were no wounds at all.

“This, but h-here too, was stabbed…” Lily turned her head back to his side.

Still, as soon as her fingertips touched the damp clothes, everything stopped again. Clothes soaked in his blood…

Vlad sighed in resignation and grabbed his uniform top. After a moment’s hesitation, he looked at Lily’s face, who was about to faint, and sighed deeply as if he had made up her mind.

He pulled up his clothes. His smooth and firm abdomen was exposed. Lily’s eyes slowly widened.

“What is this… yes?”

There were no wounds. And it was very strange.

The part where he was stabbed by Marius’ sword. The shape of the skin about one finger horizontally was quite heterogeneous. Snake or dragon. Anyway, something like reptile scales covered the area. The gray scales shone in a dark turquoise color when the light hit them.

It seemed to be out from the inside. The scales were widening around his abdomen. She couldn’t quite figure out what was going on when she saw it herself.

“It is getting better.  As you can see.”

Soon the area of the skin like reptilian scales gradually diminished. It seemed to go back inside or had human skin to cover it. In a few blinks of his eyes, his stomach regained its full human shape.

There were only scars left that looked like they were acquired a long time ago. There was no trace of the wound that had just been stabbed. Only the bloodstains dried up around them. Compared to a normal penetrating wound, there was almost no bleeding.

Lily’s eyes focused on his stomach, wandering frantically. His expression gradually darkened at her reaction. He had not thrown away all the leeway he had when dealing with the prince. A nervous tension engulfed his whole body.

“This is fine…? Are you sick?”

“I’m completely fine. You don’t have to worry at all, my injuries will get better soon.”

She was afraid he would feel pain if she touched it. She froze, not even touching her unfamiliar skin with him. But that gesture brought pain to his eyes.

Lily then gently touched his firm abdomen with her fingertips. She touched it almost tactfully, but when there was no sign of pain, she fiddled a few more times. For a long time, the small chest shook continuously.

She stopped moving her hand and finally looked up at him.

His eyes were bright red. Her lips were still pale, silver hair a tangled mess from hastily riding her horse to the area. She felt like she was going to collapse in the blink of an eye.

Confusion slowly faded as she looked at her husband’s face. She asked again, swallowing her tears, “Is everything really better? You’re not in pain? Isn’t there anything difficult about it?”

“This is not even painful.”

It was painful when he was stabbed by his sword, but that was all. The sensation of the organs being stabbed in his torso was still vivid, but it felt like a mirage soon after all. For him, the physical pain was just that.

Lily turned her gaze back to his stomach. A white shirt dyed dark red was visible through the torn uniform coat. His abdomen, with no traces of wounds.

As if she still couldn’t believe it, she muttered blankly, “You should still go to the doctor. You can get iron poison, you can get any kind of disease, so…”

“Even if there is poison, don’t worry, it will be cured. Whatever the wound is, it’ll heal anyway, so it’s really good. Don’t mind it.”

Lily stopped her breathing. Her lips trembled. “Since it can get better, that’s why you did this?” She didn’t like him being hurt in any way. The fact that his heart was scarred from his wounds, or he felt pain from being stabbed with a knife. She hated everything anyway.

Her stomach hurt. Because he was seriously nonchalant about his own suffering. It was anger that she did not know whether to whom it was directed, at him or the person who made him this way.
