Demon Tribe (9)
The footsteps of the royal palace knights and soldiers became distant and soon completely out of hearing. Hiding in the basement of the abandoned palace, they quietly approached the tower.
The gatekeeper of the tower seemed to already know the red lady. The polite bowing made Marquis Wenson feel strange.
“There is a maid’s room downstairs. It’s dangerous if you move around because she’s an old woman who’s a light sleeper. You have to go up in two.”
Of course, this statement was false.
It was to allow the Marquis of Wenson to take only one person to be sacrificed.
The two men stared at the Marquis without saying anything. The Marquis chose the one that was slightly larger than the other two. It was because he thought that it would be easy to do the difficult things first.
When the gatekeeper opened the door, Marquis Wenson followed him with a man. Lanterns could not be used because there were windows in the narrow hallway with the steps of the tower.
The Marquis held the key to the prison given by the gatekeeper and pounded. With every step he took, he could finally kill him! He was filled with joy, but on the other hand, he was afraid.
He was middle-aged, but that man was younger than him. At least ten years younger.
Is he stronger than me? If he rebels or screams, things go wrong.
Fear rose, but rose at the words of the red lady.
“I’ll send you back if you don’t get it done in 20 minutes.”
Kill him at once. It was something that he had already imagined in his head several times before hiring him. He was an aristocrat, and he had learned to use the sword as a child.
So the Marquis knew how to use a sword. He didn’t have much talent, so he quit right away.
Step, step.
The regular sound drove the marquis crazy. It seemed like he would pull out a dagger and stab him in the back even before he reached the top floor of the tower.
He would certainly have done so if it weren’t for the keys to the prison in his hands.
“…I think it’s here.”
The Marquis was not the only one who was caught in a breathtaking silence. Perhaps the man did the same, but he broke the order of the Marquis and opened his mouth first. The Marquis did not blame him.
A cool moonlight came through the window, and he could dimly check the location of the prison door. The marquis fumbled along the wall.
He managed to find the keyhole and push the key in. Even the moment he opened the door while turning the key, the marquis did not expect such a bad smell.
A stench like a mixture of a musty smell and the smell of a sewer. It was a smell he never thought would come from the prison where the second empress was imprisoned.
Marquis Wenson hesitated for a moment but looked back at the man. The key was stuck in the door, and he was already halfway into the prison.
“Come in.”
The prison with the Second Imperial Empress was not surprisingly dark. Unlike the dark surrounding the front door of the prison, the inside of the prison seemed to glow white in the dark.
The queen stood in the middle of the prison. The stench pierced his nose, but he was wearing an ankle-length dress and looking at the person coming into his prison cell, wrapped in chain handcuffs.
In the dim darkness, only the eyes of the queen were shining like beasts. The man trembled as if he had belatedly come to his senses at the glance.
“…M-Marquis. Where the hell are we?”
He didn’t hear what the job scope was from the butler. He only assumed it was a crime when he paid a lot of money to keep his mouth shut.
However, there was only one building in the capital that had such a tall tower.
The Imperial Palace.
They didn’t know where they were going until they used the teleportation magic circle in the cave. Even after arriving, he just waited because the red lady told him to wait.
He was very surprised to see the tower, but he couldn’t argue because he was afraid that the guards would run after hearing the loud noise.
“Who the hell is that person… Kyak!”
The approaching marquis’ dagger penetrated the man’s chest. The power of Marquis Wenson was not so strong, and the knife seemed blunt, but it dug deep.
The Marquis of Wenson dragged him to the Second Queen, who was convulsing with power from. And he pulled out a dagger.
Chuuk!
The Marquis, who had never killed a man, knew for the first time that blood could spout out like that. The Marquis stabbed the man once more with a dagger, killing him completely.
Flowing blood soaked the Marquis of Wenson, the Second Empress, and the chain that was tightening her.
The Marquis waited for another man to come up with a dagger. He was afraid that the smell of blood would catch him, but the smelly stench was helping them.
The smell resembling a sewer was mixed with the smell of blood, giving off a smell that was difficult to express.
I think he’s going to smell it.
