“… How do you know he’s handsome?”
“Why are you asking about his looks before his wealth?”
“Well, everyone knows that Euplana is rich.”
“I guess that’s true.”
He said so and held out his hand. It seems like he wanted an information fee again.
“I already gave it to you.”
Rieta pointed to the basket he was holding.
“Wasn’t this given as a favor?”
“Would I be kind to a kidnapper?!”
“How petty.”
He grumbled something quietly and had no choice but to answer the question Rieta asked.
“I saw him before when I was tasked with infiltrating a trade ship. I thought he was really handsome.”
Rieta’s head tilted slightly to the side.
Come to think of it, she had heard her maid at the castle say, “The Prince of Euplana is handsome.”
She didn’t know how handsome he was, that there were so many good stories about him here and there.
“Why does the Princess’s expression look… kind of weird? You don’t like handsome men? Do you like someone with free-spirited features like me?”
As he stuck out his face, Rieta was startled and shook her head.
She liked handsome men. It was definite.
“Why do you look so unhappy?”
Pfft.
“…?”
They had definitely become more comfortable around each other than before. Rieta smiled slightly as she thought about that.
They bickered with each other the entire time they were traveling in the carriage.
“Funny. You seem to really like ugly faces.”
“I don’t. I like handsome people, like Duke Mayer.”
Rieta answered clearly with her ideal type, so that he wouldn’t misunderstand.
“That’s good, then. Since your husband-to-be is handsome.”
How great it would be if she could simply think like that.
However, Rieta was more worried about her right to succeed to the throne than about the prince’s appearance or personality.
If this marriage went through, she would lose all legitimate power in Liz.
She didn’t like the idea of it at all, so she couldn’t dare to think about it again.
She could never convey these worries to Emile.
Although they had become pretty close over the past few days, he had only followed Rieta to keep an eye on her.
“What is it, Princess? Don’t tell me you’re still thinking of running away, do you?”
His question made Rieta’s heart tingle a little, but she shook her head with effort.
“No, I just…”
“Just? If not, do you have a hidden lover somewhere?”
“Ah? Well….”
Rieta nodded her head moderately for now, even if only to hide her feelings.
…Actually, she didn’t have a secret lover.
“What a headache. Don’t tell me your secret lover is going to attack the carriage? Saying he can’t send the Princess away to be married, or something?”
“Ughh, no. Never.”
“What? That’s a terrible man.”
“What do you mean, terrible?! He’s not!” Rieta shouted angrily.
Noel’s personality may be a little mean, but it wasn’t to the point where it could be called terrible.
…She didn’t know why she immediately thought of Noel when she heard the phrase ‘secret lover.’
“So you’re saying he won’t even attempt to attack?”
“That…”
Rieta didn’t know how to explain it, so she hesitated for a moment.
She looked for some excuse from her past.
“Well, we haven’t decided for sure that we are lovers.”
“What do you even mean by that?”
“Uh…”
As Rieta groaned, she remembered what had happened with Noel.
There were times when his lips touched her forehead or the back of her hand, and she even hugged him.
Her face felt hot as she thought about it, even though it had already been several days.
“Well, there is… getting a kiss on the forehead or the back of the hand.”
“Uh huh, uh huh. Then?”
Emile nodded his head enthusiastically, finding Rieta’s story very interesting.
“It’s not like we’re exactly lovers.”
“Where is this bastard!”
He angry took out a few more cookies, eating them in rage.
“If a boy kisses you, he has to take responsibility!”
What is he so worked up for?
Seeing Emile yelling out loud, Rieta reflexively looked at her surroundings and corrected her story.
“No, he didn’t kiss me…”
“If he does it on your forehead or the back of your hand with shady intentions, it’s no different from kissing!”
“Why is Emile getting so angry?”
“Who wouldn’t be angry if they heard this? This damned punk is so cowardly that he pounces with his ugly lips before he even confesses?!”
“He’s not ugly, but… since we’ve been living together since we were young, it’s a bit… awkward to suddenly say, let’s go out…”
“Do you still have the heart to side with a man like that? You’re really going to be in big trouble, Princess.”
Rieta pursed her lips.
She wasn’t siding with Noel, she was just upset that Emile had a bad opinion of him when they hadn’t even met.
