The Seventh Plan. Revenge Done Right. (12)
Gellerhard seemed very angry at Count Petrika’s confession in regards to the fact that he had concealed the original price and sold it at a much higher amount while supplying various war items to the Knights of DeMancier. Thanks to those who had been guarding the borders in the line of sight, he was able to do business, but he actually dared to betray the Duke of DeMancier. It was something that Gellerhard couldn’t forgive at all.
“Did he inform you of this?”
“I told him that depending on the information which he coughs up, the time it’d take to stop the torture lengthens even more, so he confessed.”
“Ah, well… We just have to make it through tonight.”
After colluding with some of the Duke’s vassals, besides accusing me through Count Decca, Count Petrika had already arranged two devices for his safe return home. One was my older brothers who still remained in the County of Petrika and the other had been the fact that Countess Petrika as well as the Count’s eldest son who came over to the Dukedom in search of his father.
Actually, I wasn’t really worried about my brothers. At least, until the time when the Count of Petrika would leave the Duchy, the people of Petrika would never be able to attack my brothers hastily. Nevertheless, it was still annoying for the Count’s son to come over since we had decided to keep Theodora’s poisoning hidden away. Therefore, there was no other way to prevent it once the Count’s son were to say that he would bring his father home.
Count Petrika said that he had told his son to come and find him if nothing was heard from him by the morning of the next day. Plus, to make an arrest for the three sons of Viscount Bentta. As he said so, the Count laughed triumphantly, but from the moment Gellerhard had struck his left cheek with his thick palms, he lost all of his laughter.
The Count tried to run away, but he couldn’t escape the ruthless hand of an active knight. Gellerhard then walked slowly towards Count Petrika while looking just like a lion who was facing its prey. After his slow approach as it maximized his fear, Gellerhard continued to assault Count Petrika without batting an eye at all. The Count screamed, begged, cursed before he tried to beg again as he said that we had been aware of why he did it anyway. Gellerhard and I didn’t wish to hear it the most, which made us use some numbing drugs to stiffen his tongue.
Even though I did my best to raise Carl, the only reason why he had tried to keep my reputation in check was because of the fact that I could produce another successor to Gellerhard, the Duke of DeMancier.
The real reason why he had Theodora killed was because he wished that there would be no other successor to the Duke of DeMancier except for Carl, who inherited Count Petrika’s own blood.
Amongst those many, many people, the reason why he dared to use Charlotte was because he wanted to kick out the Duchess Dowager, who could make any intervention as she had been in the same position as Count Petrika, a relative of Carl’s maternal side.
All in order to completely seize the Dukedom of DeMancier in his hands through his only grandson, Carl. That was Count Petrika’s sole purpose. I never knew why he had been so obsessed with the DeMancier, but I didn’t like the fact that he was recounting the story in detail as he dared to demand sympathy and understanding.
In spite of all that, the Count never showed any kind of feeling for my baby, my Theodora.
When Gellerhard said that we would let him leave the Dukedom by tomorrow morning even if he did not disclose the things that had transpired, the Count then tried to hold out while thinking only of that fact, but Gellerhard’s violence was certainly ruthless indeed. I strongly gave my approval of adopting Carlos as my adopted son and even if Gellerhard and I were to die early, I eventually decided to stop the torture after three hours for receiving a memorandum that he would never get involved with Carl again. Then, I went to dine with Carl before putting the child to bed. Meanwhile, those three hours soon passed. That was all we ever needed for Count Petrika and Gellerhard’s application skills had been pretty good too.
“How many hours since the last break?”
“Five.”
All at once, Gellerhard stretched his hand and said while showing his palm. When I counted the time after listening to him, it was already well past midnight. At that time of the aim, there had been only one excuse left for the Count to remain where he was and not return to his dwelling instead.
“Well, then I guess I should ask for more alcohol. The Duke and the Count had gotten together while drinking all night long.”
“Yes.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t be making you drink until you die after all.”
Unlike Gellerhard, who had nodded meekly, Count Petrika’s face instantly turned pale. Gellerhard sat back down and finished his meal while I carefully stored the information which he had obtained from Count Petrika and put it into my pocket.
“You’re going to do even more, right?”
