The Seventh Plan. Revenge Done Right. (6)
Gellerhard did not speak at length. Right now, Carl was just Gellerhard’s son and consequently, to me, he had simply become the son of the said married man. However, if I were to adopt Carl as my adoptive son, he would soon become mine and Gellerhard’s son. The fact that he never did so was only because it didn’t make any difference to Carl, who was the real son of the Duke of DeMancier. However, that was actually very meaningful to me—and to Count Petrika as well.
Carlos, the future Duke of DeMancier, would legally be my son.
“This ridiculous meeting is now over.”
The Count’s face went absolutely white, but his lips trembled in vain as the Duke had declared a rebellion at DeMancier itself. That shabby face of his had spread with joy inside my little heart.

Since the nursery room was empty with no one except for Carl right now, I had him brought to my room instead. And now, Carl was hiding behind the sofa. When I shouted, ‘I’ve got you now!’—Carl giggled and ran away while turning around the sofa between the two of us as I grabbed a hold of him.
“Got you! Our Prince!”
“Kyahaha!”
As I kissed him to and fro before I tickled his side, Carl twisted himself as he laughed out loud. The child’s cheeks immediately flushed red and the lips with their tiny teeth parted widely. When I stopped and released my hand that was tickling him, Carl jumped up before he started running again.
“Hide!”
“Mandy will find you again.”
“Yes!”
A pair of green eyes was shining brightly. I covered my eyes with both hands and listened to Carl’s tiny footsteps.
“Did you hide yourself?”
“No—”
I waited for a while and when the sound of his footsteps stopped again, I asked one more time.
“Have you hid yourself now?”
There was no answer at that moment. But I could still hear the enthusiastic breathing of a baby who was running around excitedly.
“Where did Carl hide~ Did he hide behind the sofa? Or did he hide under the curtains?”
There was also a giggling sound as I walked around while deliberately talking about the wrong place. Then, a knock was heard all of a sudden.
“My Lady.”
“Yes, what’s wrong?”
The maid opened the door slightly and remarked.
“Count Petrika is asking to see My Lady.”
“I’m quite busy right now, so tell him to come back later.”
As I turned my body away from the maid, I tried to find Carl again. I was going to meet Count Petrika anyway, but he had suddenly become anxious about meeting me while hanging himself loose, so I decided to postpone the face-to-face contact for as long as I could.
“Madam, that is—”
The maid who thought that she would close the door immediately seemed hesitant. Ouch—with a shout, the maid was propelled away and the door slammed open.
“Ah! I can’t let go of this!”
The opened door revealed that the maid had been pushed to one side and the escort knight was now subduing the man who had shoved her. The escort knight knocked him to the floor and crushed him down by bending his arms behind his own back.
“He had tried to enter the room. I will place him in the underground prison as it is.”
“You actually dare! This is me, the maternal grandfather of the future Duke of DeMancier!”
“Mandy!”
When there was a loud noise, Carl, who had been hiding under the table with a long tablecloth, immediately crawled out. Carl rushed over and stood next to me while clutching onto the hem of my dress. The child’s gaze landed on his maternal grandfather, who was being prostrated ungainly.
“Oh, Carlos! Do help this old man!”
It was Count Petrika who looked at Carl’s presence as if it had been the appearance of a savior, but of course, the child did not even recognize his maternal grandfather for whom he hadn’t seen since he was still very young. Rather, what drew Carl’s attention was the knight who had subdued the Count in a splendid way.
“Wait! Mandy, Carl wants to do it too!”
“Yeah, is that cool? Then, Carl can do that too when he grows up.”
As I stroked Carl’s hair, I looked at the awkward Count with a pair of pitiful eyes. The maid then made some excuses, not knowing what to do at that moment.
“I’ve already told the maid. Even though I did request you to wait, you still had to forcefully enter…”
I nodded my head to the maid, who said that she couldn’t help it since he was still the Prince’s maternal grandfather. In any case, this mess needed to be sorted out right away.
“Do get the Duke here and prepare some tea as well.”
The maid bowed her head and scampered away. I felt a sense of willingness to take care of what I had ordered as soon as possible while getting out of this situation without running down the hallway. Despite recognizing the true identity of Count Petrika, I praised the knight who still subdued him steadfastly.
“Your escort was rather excellent indeed. If the Duke hears about what happened today, he will definitely appreciate it.”
“No. He just did the obvious.”
“Excellent!”
Carl also repeated my words with his poor pronunciation while raising his thumb. The knight’s cheeks turned red after getting such praise from the young Prince.
“Still, this rogue man is Carl’s maternal grandfather. Will you please escort the Prince and take him to the Duchess Dowager then?”
“But then, the Madam will be with the Count…”
“There’s no need to worry. Gellerhard will be here soon.”
At my words, the knight soon nodded. I bent down towards Carl and made eye contact with him.
“Carl, would you like to stay with your grandmother for a minute? Mandy has a little bit of work here.”
“Ungg.”
It hadn’t been long since we started playing, so the plump lips sank in when I pressed them with a soft kiss.
“I’ll be there soon. You can play with your father later too.”
“Yes! Play with Daddy!”
One for Carl and another for me. After kissing each other on the cheek, Carl left the room. The knight eventually freed Count Petrika’s body and followed after Carl while Count Petrika groaned as he stood upright.
